Home / Playlists / Brewtubers 2024 Fruit Experiment / Fruit Experiment Review #1 — Whole fruit, 15-minute boil
The series opens with the house beer: two pounds of whole strawberries dropped in with 15 minutes left in the boil. Boiling fruit means the sugars ferment out, and the result is a hazy wheat beer where the strawberry shows up as tartness and estery, almost hefeweizen-like character rather than fresh fruit sweetness.
The review is honest about the journey — a self-described non-fruit-beer person pushed well outside his comfort zone, and pleasantly surprised by where it landed. It closes with a proper tribute to Nick from Exit 12, the experiment's organizer, affectionately dubbed "the Regina George of the group" for making everyone put fruit in their beer.
