Scottish Export — Grain to Glass

The very first Grain to Glass video, and it sets the tone for everything that follows: real brewing, real numbers, and a healthy disrespect for taking itself too seriously. It opens with a costume sketch starring the Tilt hydrometer aristocrats before settling in to brew a proper Scottish Export — one that would go on to take second place for Best of Show at the Wisconsin State Fair.

The beer is BJCP category 14C — malty, with light caramel, toast, and toffee, and just enough bitterness to keep it from being cloying. The 10-gallon grain bill is built on 18 lb of Maris Otter with Crystal 10, Crystal 60, and a small dose of roasted barley for that signature slight roast dryness in the finish.
