Adam from Hatty Brews chose Briess Ashburne Mild, dosing it at 12 ounces — more than most entries — to make sure the malt made its point. It does: this is the most malt-forward beer of the experiment, with toasty malt sweetness that softens the amber's hop bitterness without tipping into Scottish-export levels of sweet.
The review frames it as exactly what the experiment is for — a malt choice that genuinely changes the beer, in this case steering it toward toast and sweetness in a way the honey and biscuit malts didn't. One beer left in the series after this one, and the pace is picking up.
