Kurt from Fermentation Adventures played it clever: two ounces of Sinamar, a liquid coloring extract made from Carafa malt, which adds color while barely touching flavor. The result works almost as a baseline for the whole experiment — the shared amber recipe, dressed appropriately amber, with the malt character of the base beer on full display.
The review's takeaway is a practical one: for a surprisingly small dose, Sinamar delivers a lot of color, making it the tool of choice when a beer needs to look the part without tasting different. For the amber ale style itself, that might quietly make it one of the most stylistically correct entries of the year.
