Opal 44 Toffee Malt — 2025 Malt Experiment #8

Lance from Hund Hütte Brewing brought the most exotic malt of the year: Opal 44, a toffee malt neither reviewer had ever tried. Its personality turns out to be chocolate almond — the almond unmistakable in the flavor, a hint of chocolate in the aroma — giving the amber ale a character none of the other ten entries came close to.

It's distinctive enough that finding its perfect style becomes the discussion of the video (a stout? something where it can shine?), and it earned a place on the future-brews list. The glass, for the record, was empty before the review ended.
